POLICE officers and staff from Bolton received commendations for their work at a Greater Manchester Chief Constable’s Awards ceremony.
Chief Constable Peter Fahy, together with the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Anthony Connell and the Mayoress Maureen Connell, presented commendations for excellent work, along with long service and good conduct awards.
Receiving the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal were: PC Paul Gore, who works for Bolton CID, Sgt Darren Meadows, PC Jo-Ann Beech, of the Serious Crime Division, PC Stephen Forrester, of the Specialist Operations Branch, and PC Adrian Rigby.
PC Gore, aged 52, has spent his entire 23 years’ service in the Bolton Division.
Now the Bolton Coroner’s Liaison Officer working in CID, he has in the past worked as an evidence gatherer during the Strangeway riots and the IRA bombing of Manchester. He said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my 23 years in the force and it was an honour to be presented with this award.”
PC Mark Skeith received the Armed Forces Veterans Badge.
Marion Hampson, Janet Ramsdale, Georgina Marie Sumner and Barbara McCardle all received the Police Staff Long Service Certificate.
The Chief Constable’s Commendation was awarded to Dr Rabindranath Choudhury, a retired police surgeon from Lostock, for his 50 years of associated work with the police in Bolton and Wigan.
Chief Con Fahy said: “Dr Choudhury has shown dedication and commitment both in his long and distinguished career as a police surgeon and in his valued involvement in health promotion.”
