BOLTON youngsters showed their potential as future Olympians with impressive displays in the inaugural Bolton Schools Wrestling Championships at Bolton Arena.
Ninety-five wrestlers from eight secondary schools competed and Withins High School finished top with 105 points.
Smithills were runners-up with 99pts followed by Ladybridge on 82pts.
In addition seven wrestlers progressed to an international wrestling competition.
The numbers compared favourably with the 50 competitiors who entered the recent Scotland National Championships, and local officials are hopeful that they will produce stars of the future for the London 2012 Olympics and beyond.
The event was the culmination of an in-school coaching programme delivered by Heartlift, in association with Aspull Wrestling Club, while the event was also supported on the day by officials from Bolton Wrestling Club.
Heartlift is an organisation that focuses on physical development through a variety of sports which lead to social development and improved lifestyle choices for teenagers.
