A GAMBLER who won £1,100 in his local betting shop was robbed just minutes after announcing his win, a court heard.
Henry Crook, who has learning difficulties, won the money gambling on horses at Ladbrokes in Market Street, Atherton.
Fraser Lindsay, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that minutes after leaving the shop, Crook was lured down an alleyway by Carl Collier, who he knew.
Mr Lindsay said that a struggle then took place and Collier put his hand in Mr Crook’s pocket.
Crook alleges that, after going back to the betting shop and counting the money, £260 was missing.
Collier, aged 23, of Alma Street, Atherton, has pleaded not guilty to robbery. The court heard that Collier, after being arrested, told police he borrowed £10 off Crook.
The case continues.
