A TEENAGE girl has been named as one of the best young apprentice engineers in the country.
Jennifer Taylor, aged 18, from Bromley Cross, pictured above, works for Bolton at Home and is in the third year of a four-year apprenticeship.
She was chosen as one of the top four female apprentices in the housing and building industry by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE), which works with more than 300 local authorities.
Despite missing out on first prize in the mechanical and electrical category, Jennifer walked away with a prestigious finalist award from APSE’s 2008 awards ceremony, held recently in Sheffield.
She said: “I really enjoy what I do and being shortlisted for such an award is fantastic.
“Thanks to everyone who has supported me during my apprenticeship.”
Noel Spencer, of Bolton at Home, said: “We’re tremendously proud of Jennifer, who deserves recognition for her dedicated approach to work as a heating engineer.”
Bolton at Home has 34 apprentices as heating engineers, plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, joiners and plasterers.
