HARWOOD won the Jack Taylor Trophy with a 3-2 victory over Bolton Old Links.
Harwood last won the end-of-season event 21 years ago and denied Old Links the double after their BGA league title victory.
Old Links were in pole position in the tense final at Dunscar on Sunday when they led down the back stretch with holes running out.
However, a superb finish by the Harwood young stars, James Bolton and Anthony Stirling, saw the Lancashire county boys pull back a one-hole deficit by winning the 17th and 18th to beat former Bolton champion Steve Bryan and his partner Dave Ahern by the narrowest of margins.
It took a superb second shot to the 18th from Stirling, which left a birdie putt for his partner to secure the Harwood victory.
John Maree and Richard Powter put the first points on the board for Old Links with a decisive 4 & 3 win over Stuart Bourn and Martin Farnworth.
Harwood’s Neil Stirling and Simon Wrigley were always in command until they lost the 13th and 14th, but hung on to their one-hole lead to defeat Old Links captain Duncan Simm and Paul Sarsfield.
Having been 2-up for most of their game, Harwood’s Howard Nicholson and Stuart Grime closed out Martin Price and Conn Duffy 4 & 3 on the 16th.
Bolton’s golfing legend, Jack Taylor, a 10-times Bolton champion who made 100 appearances for Lancashire over a 30-year period, presented his trophy to Harwood captain, Dave Barrington.
