A GIANT inflatable shark greeted shoppers in Bolton to help trading standards chiefs warn people about the dangers of dodgy loans.
Bolton Council has joined up with The Trading Standards Institute and Birmingham’s pioneering Illegal Money Lending team to warn shoppers facing financial problems not to turn to loan sharks to pay for Christmas shopping.
Bolton Trading Standards held an event in Victoria Square on Wednesday to promote awareness of loan sharks and how to avoid them, as well as the help that can be provided if you get caught up in their scams.
Consumers who think they have borrowed money off an illegal lender can contact the Illegal Money Lending Team on 0161 211 1122.
