BOLTON Wanderers have been shortlisted for a Prince’s Trust award for their work with youngsters in the town.

The club is in line to receive the Partnership Innovation Award which recognises organisations’ efforts to support the charity.

Wanderers have helped The Prince’s Trust to deliver its Get Started with Football programme for the past five years.

The programme engages socially excluded young people through football and helps them develop the skills, confidence and motivation to progress towards education and employment.

The Whites have enabled the charity to extend the programme by taking it into prisons and getting other clubs on board.

Three young Bolton entrepreneurs have also been nominated for awards.

Abdul Memon and Tracy and Ashley Glossop, have been nominated for the Enterprise Award.

Mr Memon, aged 30, set up Pronto Tyres, in Fern Street, Deane.

With the help of The Prince’s Trust, he has turned his tyre repair business into a successful enterprise.

Mr and Mrs Glossop are the founders of promotional goods company, Rainbowz, in King Street, Westhoughton.

The couple have a daughter with cerebral palsy and in 2006, Mr Glossop was the victim of an unprovoked attack which left him partially blind. But despite these challenges, they run their business with the help of the charity.

The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success ceremony takes place at St George’s Hall in Liverpool on Monday, November 24.
