Robert Kilroy-Silk claimed victory in the Bushtucker Trial yesterday - only to be told he hadn't completed the task correctly.

The politician thought he had beaten actor Joe Swash in 'Chamber Of Horrors'after setting himself free from a water-filled container - shouting "I've won" as he reached the top - by unlocking padlocks tethering him in leg irons and a waistbelt.

However, 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!' hosts Ant and Dec informed the 66-year-old star that he was still attached to handcuffs and had to go back into the tank to free himself.

Oblivious to the fact he had dropped a key on the floor, Robert grappled with the final lock and blamed a defective key as Joe freed himself to victory, winning luxury food for his camp mates.

Sore loser Robert was convinced he should have won, and joked with his rival, who told him to "take it like a man".

After the trial, Robert told camp mates Simon Webbe, Esther Rantzen, Carly Zucker and Nicola McLean he felt like a "prat" because of his mistake.

He said: "Joe did it while I'm standing there like a prat saying "I've won'

thinking I had and it's just the fact that the key won't work. I'm sorry."

Victorious Joe later revealed he was also convinced he had lost the challenge, saying: "The key weren't working and I was thinking, 'Oh he's done it, he's done it they've given him a dodgy lock'

but there was another key at the bottom, they put the other key in and that was the key that done it.

"You know he's a politician because he nearly talked himself into victory.

Can't get beat by Silksey!"

While the 'Away' camp lost the Bushtucker Trial, they were cheered when Nicola beat Dani Behr to the Celebrity Chest in a task called 'Down Force', winning the group a cheeseboard.

The women were harnessed and had to pull themselves up a hill, starting suspended in mid-air. If they lost their grip were forced to start again and Nicola's unconventional method of travelling upside down saw her unlock the chest first.
