IT will be a case of all that jazz when a trio of young musicians take to the stage at London’s famous Ronnie Scott’s jazz club for a royal show.

Talented violinist Joy Becker, trumpet player Thomas Hurst and Carl Austin, who plays the viola, have been chosen to play at the celebrated venue in front of the Duchess of Kent They will follow in the footsteps of jazz stars Zoot Sims, Johnny Griffin and Wes Montgomery, who have entertained crowds at the club.

Thomas, aged 15, said: “Ronnie Scott’s is world famous and I am really excited about playing there. As a jazz player myself, this is a once in a lifetime experience.”

Thomas, along with Joy, aged 15, and Carl, aged 17, will perform on November 27 in front of a specially invited audience.

The three all play with Bolton Music Service. They were chosen to take part in the Ronnie Scott’s show after impressing Future Talents, an organisation which aims to promote musical talent among young people which was set up by the Duchess of Kent.

Thomas, Joy and Carl received the Future Talents Champion Award and a slice of a £5,000 bursary to develop their talent and further their ambitions.

They are now busy rehearsing for their royal performance and say they are looking forward to playing in the club.

A spokesman for Bolton Music Service said: “We are delighted to be able to take part in the Future Talent gala fundraiser, which is an exclusive and exciting event.”
