MOTOR RACING: Bolton motor racing prodigy Tom Bradshaw has bagged £50,000 towards a drive in the Porsche Carrera Cup in 2009.
The 19-year-old, who recently finished second in the single-seater Formula Palmer Audi series with a blistering five wins in his last eight races, was selected from six finalists after two days of intensive evaluation at Silverstone.
The former Turton High School pupil has always said he would rather drive sports cars than Formula One and Porsche is a dominant manufacturer in his preferred discipline, having won the Le Mans 24-hour event many times.
Bradshaw has also been competing in the FPA Autumn series and although he won the first two rounds he won easily, with another £50,000 at stake if he won the third event at Snetteron in Norfolk, he had two racing accidents and he narrowly missed out on the prize of a competition backed by F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton’s team McLaren.
