Is today’s photograph from 1978 a taste of things to come this winter?
It looks like a hardy newspaper photographer had a fair old walk up from the road that we can just spot in the middle of the picture. I wonder how long he had to wait for someone to come up the hill, like this group, so he could get his photograph?
The caption read: “There is nothing better than a run up Rivington Pike to keep you warm on a cold day. And the reward for their energetic jaunt up the snow-covered Pike is a marvellous view over a wintry Horwich.”
