A YOUNG woman who has been told she can never have children naturally has made a desperate plea for a “special person” to step forward and make her dreams come true.
Leanne Shaw, aged 27, has always wanted to be a mother but was diagnosed with a rare condition that means she cannot conceive.
Miss Shaw needs an egg donor if she is to have a chance of becoming a mother and make her family complete.
Two years ago, Miss Shaw, of Morris Green, Bolton, received the devastating news that she suffered a rare condition called premature ovarian failure, also known as early menopause.
Doctors told her she had less than a one per cent chance of conceiving with her own eggs.
Miss Shaw and her partner Darren Gorton, aged 37, have been trying for a baby for three years, but have now accepted the fact that it might not happen.
Miss Shaw said: “I went through a variety of emotions and considered leaving my partner because he deserves to have a family.
“But we are getting stronger and now we are searching for a special person to come forward and donate an egg, which would be our one and only hope of having our own child.
“I have always hoped one day to be able to carry a child and have a family.”
If an egg donor comes forward, the couple will only get one chance through the NHS.
Mr Gorton said: “It has been a difficult experience for both of us. I was devastated when Leanne was given the news.
“But we have become stronger through this and I have done the only thing I can, which is be there for her.”
Miss Shaw was diagnosed by a specialist at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester.
Last month, a campaign was launched by the hospital called Give Hope, Give Life, in a bid to attract more egg donors.
