RAMSBOTTOM A continued their push to retain the Premier Division title with a comfortable 7-2 win over their B team.

Top Ten leader Mick Moir scored his usual treble supported by two wins from Andy Jackson and Mark Ramsbottom. Josh Bleakley won the losers’ sets.

Second-placed Hilton B took maximum points from their match against a two-man Little Lever B, and Tameside, in third, went down 5-4 at Radcliffe CC in a game where four players won two sets.

Three wins by Graham Jeffries and Steve McNicholas, plus two by Ron Durose, gave Little Lever A an 8-1 victory over Nomads.

Ramsbottom C and Burning Desire B share top place in Division One on 52 points. They both recorded 6-3 wins, Ramsbottom at promotion rivals Heaton B and Burning Desire at Ladybridge A. Graham Young was unbeaten, as was Kevin Chapman for Burning Desire.

Dave Holden trebled for Nomads B who won 5-4 at Heaton D, as did Lee Davenport for Hilton D who also won at Heaton D by the same score.

Paul Brandwood was unbeaten for Withins who went down 6-3 at Hilton C. He now joins Steve Barber as Top Ten leader on 21 wins.

Meadow Bank, who have a seven-point advantage over Ramsbottom C at the top of Division Two, scraped a 5-4 victory over Heaton F, which featured two wins by Paul Jackson and Paul Whyatt for the winners and by Mike Dunn and Eric Shaw for the losers.

Chris Leaves’ treble for Ramsbottom was supported by two wins by Ray Kay and Roger Whewell in their 7-2 win over Little Lever D.

Rod Hall recorded three wins on his first appearance for BEN A who were beaten 5-4 by Hilton E. Hilton E also had a 6-3 victory over Hilton Tigers in which sub Eric Shaw had a treble for the winners.

Three wins each for Phil Noden and Steve Jones, plus a brace by Mick Kitchen, gave Meadow Hill A an 8-1 win against Hilton F.

The Withins B trio of Steven Hall, Stuart McCaig and Debbie Wilson scored maximum points against Farnworth SC A The race for top spot in Division Three appears to be between Ladybridge B, who have a two-point advantage over Coburg. The latter have played one match and earned a decisive 7-2 win at Ladybridge with Bob Bent and Jim Hewitt unbeaten.

These two players then repeated the feat against Meadow Hill, who they beat 6-3. Ladybridge returned to winning ways at Farnworth SC B with an 8-1 win which included three wins by Brian Greenhalgh and Bill Fairhurst and two by John Cole.

Brian Young trebled for Hilton G in their 6-3 victory over Walkden Meths, as did Liam McGreavy for Withins C who lost 6-3 to Hilton H.
