POLICE are making a renewed appeal for witnesses to an accident to come forward.
Motorcyclist Paul Williams had part of his right foot amputated after the incident in St Helens Road, Deane, on Saturday, October 25.
Emergency services were called to the road outside the Netto supermarket just before 2pm, after reports a motorbike was in a collision with two cars.
Surgeons had to remove his right foot and lower calf in the days after the accident.
Mr Williams, aged 44, is now being treated at North Manchester General Hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
His partner of six years, Tracey Williams, said: “He has had another operation to put a permanent steel plate in his pelvis.
“There is no more surgery in the pipeline at the moment but he is having lots of tests and treatment.
“He is in a lot of pain but mentally is doing ok.
“We don’t know when he is going to be home, it doesn’t look like it will be for Christmas.
“He has been told he will have to stay off his legs for four months while he recovers.”
The police want anyone with any information on the incident to come forward.
PC Paul Hailwood, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “This collision took place on a busy shopping day when there were lots of people about.
“St Helens Road is well used by people travelling both to Bolton and Leigh, so I am appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened to call us.”
Anyone with information should contact the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 7201.
