A BINGO hall has been fined £10,000 because standards were still inadequate nine months after an employee was seriously burnt in a kitchen accident.
Buckingham Bingo in Walkden pleaded guilty at Salford Magistrates’ Court to failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of employees in Ellesmere Retail Park.
It was fined £10,000 and ordered to pay costs of £2,006.32. It followed an incident in which an employee slipped while using decarbonising equipment to remove grease from kitchen utensils, causing serious burns to his arm in May last year.
Salford City Council inspectors returned this year and found standards “disappointing”, despite a company promise to improve staff training and risk assessments.
