The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, St Philips Junior Workshop, Bolton SIMPLY magical — that’s St Philips Junior Workshop’s musical production of C S Lewis’ popular children’s story The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.
A fine cast brought the classic story alive in front of an almost full house at St Philip’s Church Parochial Hall in Bridgeman Street on the opening night yesterday.
A delightful performance was given by all the young cast, who ranged in age from four to 18, as they told the story of wartime evacuees who discover a world through a wardrobe.
Rebecca Bolton, who played Susan, had the voice of an angel, while Lucy, played by Emily Abercrombie, commanded the stage. Ben Whitehead could rival any professional actor in his portrayal of “naughty” Edmund. Jack Hart as big brother Peter, was the traditional young English gentleman.
The White Witch, superbly played by Bavisha Kukadia, jazzed up the musical with her singing and dancing, while Daniel Baker gave a powerful performance as Aslan while Zack Thornley sensitively gave a convincing performance of fawn Mr Tumnus.
The supporting cast added a wonderful cuteness to the performance.
The scenery, costumes and choreography made this a most entertaining production, leaving the audience smiling as they left.
