THE battle against anti-social behaviour in Bolton can be won with the help of the borough’s residents, police said last night.
Officers spoke out after this gang of yobs was caught red handed causing havoc at a bus shelter.
The teenage youths had been making the lives of residents in the New Lane area of Breightmet a misery.
Police were inundated with reports of anti-social behaviour, shouting, swearing, urinating in the street, drinking, missiles being thrown at passing cars and buses, and general intimidation of residents.
They launched an inquiry and have now identified the worst offenders. This week, they put a stop to the youngsters’ anti-social ways by making them the subject of Acceptable behaviour Contracts (ABC).
Police Inspector John Boyce said: “These are the kinds of results we can get when we work together with the community.
“This form of neighbourhood policing is being carried out across all the Bolton divisions and it can really help us make a difference.”
