JUSSI Jaaskelainen has legendary status in his sights when he claims his best days are yet to come in a Wanderers shirt.

Not that those words would ever spill from the modest-but-mighty Finn’s lips. But such is his fierce determination to make the best of his “prime years” at the Reebok, it is anyone’s guess quite how long he could continue as the club’s number one keeper.

Sunday’s victory over Manchester City marked his 400th appearance in a Whites shirt – a figure matched by just 18 other players in Bolton’s history.

At the top of the list stands the great Eddie Hopkinson, whose 578 games between 1956 and 1969 remain the benchmark. Yet with three years left on his contract with Wanderers, the 33-year-old Jaaskelainen has no plans to slow down.

“I don’t focus too much on records but it is great to see some of the names up there who have also played 400 games,” he said.

“I have got three years on my contract after this season so, hopefully, there is a chance of a few hundred to come."
