THE partner of a motorcyclist injured in a road crash has thanked the Good Samaritans of Bolton who helped him at the scene.
Paul Williams, aged 44, had part of his right foot amputated following the accident in St Helens Road, Daubhill, just before 1pm last Saturday afternoon.
His partner Tracey Williams, who rushed to the scene from her home in Longfield Road, Daubhill, said: “They were absolutely brilliant, if it wasn’t for them things could have been much much worse.”
Shoppers and passers-by immediately went to try and help Mr Williams before the emergency services arrived 45-minutes later.
Miss Williams added: “With the emergency services taking a while, they really made a difference.
“People were giving first-aid, ringing the emergency services and directing traffic.
“We, and Paul’s brother Ged Williams, want to say a massive thank-you to them.
“And the emergency services were brilliant once they arrived.”
Mr Williams, of Broadgate, Ladybridge, was on his way to see his partner of six years when his black Honda CVR 600 was in collision with a pale green Ford Fiesta, outside the Netto supermarket.
He was thrown into the back of a silver Mercedes Vaneo people carrier as his bike slide underneath the vehicle, and he then hit railings before landing in the road.
