A HEARTBROKEN widow has issued a fresh plea for information about her husband’s death, a year after he was killed.
Gorden Kay was knocked off his bike as he cycled to work. He was found dying at the side of Manchester Road, Moses Gate, by a passing motorist.
He was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital with severe leg and spinal injuries, but doctors were unable to save him.
His wife, Shirley Kay, aged 30, was pregnant with their sixth child when Mr Kay, aged 34, was killed on October 30 last year.
The baby, born in March, was named Jodie Gorden Kay in memory of her father.
Mrs Kay, of Grosvenor Street, Kearsley, said: “This has been a very difficult year for all of us.
“We still miss him every day and want to know what happened so we can come to terms with it.
“Little Jodie is seven months old now and she is just like her father. It is heartbreaking that she will never have the chance to meet him.”
Mr Kay was on his way to work as a crane driver for an engineering firm in Manchester Road, Bolton, when the accident happened shortly after 6am.
Mrs Kay added: “I just don’t know what to think about what happened anymore.
“I am trying to accept it, but to know what really happened would help put things to rest.”
Mr and Mrs Kay’s five other children are: Jessica, aged 10; Liam aged eight; Amy, aged six; Megan, aged four; and Adam, aged two.
Mr Kay also had two children, Johnathon, aged 14, and Shannon, aged 12, from a previous relationship.
Det Insp Simon Davies, who led the investigation, has also appealed for witnesses.
He said: “This was a very tragic incident, which has caused a lot of heartache for the family.
“The case is still open and I would urge anybody who thinks they may have any new information to come forward and talk to the police.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information about it, is asked to call 0161 856 5740 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
