An impressive second half performance saw injury-hit Leigh Genesis reign victorious in the Cheshire rain with victory over UniBond Premier League strugglers Witton Albion.
Leigh boss Steve Bleasdale had almost a skeleton squad to choose from, with a spate of injuries, but was happy his side had found the target three times after struggling in front of goal this season.
Leigh scored in the 51st minute when Jordan Stepien beat the goalkeeper to a threaded Tom Field pass to slide home his fifth goal of the season.
However, the lead was to last all of two minutes when some poor organisation from the Leigh defence left Rob Thornley unmarked to head the equaliser past Dickinson at the back post from a right wing free kick.
In what was quickly becoming a frenetic period, Leigh retook the lead for a second time just five minutes later when Mark Smyth’s right-footed shot was spilled by Greg Smith, allowing Brad Maylett to jubilantly sweep the ball into the roof of the unguarded net.
Genesis made the points safe in the 82nd minute Field’s speculative shot from the edge of the area skidded off the turf and beat the keeper.
