INJURIES to four players have delayed manager Steve Bleasdale’s team selection ahead of Leigh’s trip to Witton Albion as he looks to build on his side’s mid-table position.
Genesis have been a model of inconsistency all season, but maintained their interest in the FA Trophy with a 1-0 win at Harrogate Railway Town last week.
They need to translate that success into the UniBond Premier League when they travel to Witton tomorrow, a side hovering just above the drop zone.
Bleasdale said: “They are a big strong side and we will have to be on our guard as they are desperate for points.
“We have been inconsistent this season but so have most of the teams except for the top two. We have a number of injuries and that will effect us as we do not have a big squad to choose from.”
Bleasdale has striker Matt Berkely back after he recovered from a collarbone injury, but new boy Chris Amadi, who joined Genesis from Blue Square North oufit Burscough, is not as fit as the manager would have hoped and will probably be on the bench for a second time.
FC United will be looking to make it five wins out of six when they travel to Whitby Town.
After a difficult start to the season, the newly-promoted Rebels are starting to find their feet as they look to continue their surge up the table. Goals from Simon Garner, Kyle Wilson and Danny Williams helped the Gigg Lane tenants overcome Frickley Athletic on Wednesday night.
And Karl Marginson’s mid-table side will be looking to build on that when they take on Whitby, one place above FC in 10th.
In UniBond Division One North, Radcliffe Borough resume their league campaign at home to Colwyn Bay after going out of three cup competitions in the space of a week.
Gerry Luczka has seen his side crash out of the Presidents Cup, FA Trophy and Manchester Cup in quick succession. And the director of football has vowed to make changes as Boro look to return to winning ways at Stainton Park.
“We’ve got to do something about it,” he said. “We can’t let it go on for the sake of the club.”
