What: Local bands The Minions and The Vordermans take to the stage for what could loosely be termed a night of free music, although near-chaos may be a better description.
A highlight of the Bolton Music Showcase in years gone by, and hailed as probably the town's best live band, The Minions fuse pure punk spirit with choruses that would make most pop bands weep with jealousy.
The nine-piece not only defy expectations of what a Northern rock band should sound like, they take those expectations, tear them to pieces and trample them into the floor, all the while making the audience dance like loons and inspiring a frankly unhygienic level of devotion from their coterie of fans.
The Vordermans describe themselves as “dirty rock abusing your aural cavities while four drunks stumble across the stage trying to remember what they’re playing,” which doesn’t actually come anywhere near to conveying the depraved joy that is watching the band in action.
