THEY went to Hollywood hoping to mingle with A-listers — but instead two former Bolton schoolboys met each other.
Pepe Serventi and Vikash Patel both attended The Deane School, which is now Ladybridge School, and bumped into each other while collecting Emmys at a glittering awards bash.
The ceremony, which was held in Los Angeles last week, is the television equivalent of the Oscars and attracted a clutch of stars, including Eva Longoria Parker, Glenn Close, Alec Baldwin and Kevin Spacey.
It was while the pair, who had not met previously, were both collecting an award that they met each other by chance.
Pepe, aged 36, originally from Blackrod, won the top accolade for editing a show called Top Chef, a reality programme aiming to find the world’s best chef.
Vikash, aged 28, who grew up in Horwich, won the award for outstanding picture editing, also for Top Chef.
Drama teacher and assistant head of Ladybridge Trevor Kay said: “Pepe was in my first production at The Deane School in The Sound of Music.
“He had wanted to be an actor and work in the industry since he was 11."
Pepe left the United Kingdom for America when his parents emigrated to Miami.
He is now living in Pasadena, California, with his wife and two young children.
