A CONSERVATIVE candidate has been speaking at the Party’s conference in Birmingham.
Susan Williams, who will be contesting the Bolton West seat, which is held by Ruth Kelly, has been discussing some of the issues facing councils. At a fringe meeting about The future of Local Government, Mrs Williams spoke about housing and adult care.
The 41-year-old, said: “The turn out was excellent, there was standing room only, which shows people have a great interest in local government.
“The general feeling was that councils need more money to help the elderly members of the community.”
She also spoke about the need for affordable housing and the state of the market.
Eric Pickles, Shadow Local Government Minister, and Margaret Eaton, chair of the Local Government Association also spoke at the meeting.
