HAIRDRESSERS in Bolton have been inundated with calls from Victoria Beckham fans desperate to emulate her latest “Posh” hairdo.
Victoria Beckham this week stole the show at New York Fashion Week when she unveiled her new “pixie cut”.
And fashion followers have been quick to copy the former Spice Girl, calling up their nearest hair salon to ask for a “short Beck and sides”.
Barbra Gregori Hairdressing and Beauty, in Markland Hill Lane, Heaton, has already given six customers the Posh treatment.
Stylist Ruby Lomax, aged 19, said: “We’ve had loads of people coming in and ringing up asking for the cut.
“It’s a great style and because it’s Victoria Beckham, a lot of people want it.”
Salon owner, Barbra Gregori, added: “We’ve been very busy this week. I’m not surprised and I can see why people want to have the cut.”
Diane Hardman, of Kearsley, was one of the first customers to copy Beckham’s latest style.
She said: “I always have my hair cut short and then I saw Victoria Beckham’s hair and thought it looked good. It’s a bit different and you don’t see that many short styles.
“I’m very pleased with the results. I’ll definitely get it done again.”
Victoria Beckham is not the only celebrity to have sparked a new trend in hairstyles.
Earlier this year, women flocked to salons to copy Coronation Street star, Kym Marsh’s micro bob.
And in the 1990s, everyone wanted Jennifer Aniston’s “Rachel cut” from the hit US comedy, Friends.
Princess Diana became a style icon in the 1980s and former Newcastle United manager, Kevin Keegan’s perm proved popular in the 1970s.
Original Hair Studio in Bridge Street, Bolton, also confirmed it has had a lot of interest from customers keen to get the Posh look.
But the salon, which recently achieved a five-star rating from the Good Salon Guide, said the haircut was not right for everyone.
Owner, Sandra Kotecha , said: “Posh can get away with any style — she looks great. But not many people can carry it off.
“There’s been a lot of talk about it but lots of girls have said they wouldn’t be that brave.
“You have to have the right features to carry the look.”
Mrs Beckham this week appeared to be unaware of the frenzy she had caused in Bolton.
She told a national newspaper: “I just like to change things up. I get bored very, very quickly and I just fancied a change.
