ROUNDERS players who are used to getting top results on the pitch have put their health to the test, by taking part in The BIG Bolton Health Check.
Members of Golden Girls, which is an over 60s inter-league team, dropped into the Friends Meeting House in Bolton town centre, to have the life-saving assessment.
All it involves is a 10-minute test which includes a blood pressure check, a cholesterol test and a few simple lifestyle questions.
Marlene Jolly, aged 63, from Harwood, said: “The test was absolutely fine. It only took a few minutes and I could hardly feel the pin prick when they took my cholesterol."
Audrey Price, aged 61, from Tonge Fold, said: “The test wasn’t a problem at all.
“It’s a great thing. I would definitely encourage as many people as possible to get themselves checked out."
The BIG Bolton Health Check aims to test 46,000 people over the age of 45 in Bolton before March next year.
So far 12,000 people have been tested — and more than 3,000 of them have been classed as high risk.
As well as being carried out in GPs’ surgeries, the tests are also being done in a range of community locations, such as bingo halls, supermarkets, pubs and cafes.
