Leigh Genesis showed what they are capable of in the Unibond Premier Division with an impressive 3-0 win over Ashton United in a game switched to Chorley’s Victory Park.
Leigh led 2-0 at the break with goals by Darren Mansaram and Richard Chetcuti and sealed their first three points of the season a minute after the restart through Brad Maylett.
FC United, who began with a 3-3 draw against Matlock, are still looking for their first win after a 2-1 defeat at Cammel Laird.
Radcliffe Borough notched up their first points of the Unibond First Division North with a 2-0 win at Mossley.
Mark Jones grabbed the opening goal in the 69th minute before Michael Oates made amends for missing two chances when he scored with a bullet header in the 75th minute from Andy Heald’s corner.
AthertonLR failed to follow up their winning start to the season when they lost 1-0 to Squires Gate in the Vodkat North West Counties Premier Division. LR played well but missed the services of striker Paul Crompton, who is on holiday, and could not bounce back after leaking in a first-half goal.
