SHE may have the face of an angel — but 11-year-old Haylie Jones swears like a trooper.
Every sentence she utters contains a profanity, much to the horror of parents, Jane and Steven.
Luckily, the youngster’s foul-mouthed outbursts are confined to the film set and her role as Ali Farrell in football comedy, The Cup.
The six-part TV drama, which was filmed entirely in Bolton, starts on Thursday night. And the family cannot wait to see it.
Haylie, of Ivy Bank Road, Sharples, said: “I wasn’t bothered about the swearing because it wasn’t me.
“It was my character and I don’t say those things at home.”
Haylie’s character is the only girl in the team.
The Cup sees fictional Bolton-based Ashburn United FC battling to win the North and Midlands under-11s Cup in Birmingham, while the players’ parents misbehave as they try to live their dreams through their children.
Haylie’s parents, Jane and Steven Jones, initially had concerns about the language necessary for her role.
Mrs Jones, aged 35, said: “There is swearing in every single one of Haylie’s lines.
“We had to sit her down and talk to her about it.
“She is mature enough to handle it and has even said to me that swearing is awful and this has made her realise she is never going to swear.
“She’s not that kind of girl, she’s a good girl.”
The role is a first for Haylie and her fictional parents, Sandra and Vincent Farrell, are played by Pulling star Tanya Franks and Dominic Coleman, who appeared alongside Billie Piper in the BBC Victorian drama, The Ruby in the Smoke.
Playing Ali combined Haylie’s favourite hobbies as she plays football for Bolton Academy Girls and attends the Carol Godby Theatre Workshop in Bury.
She said: “I really enjoyed the acting and my favourite bits were playing football and having lines.
“I can’t choose which I like best. I’ve been playing football for four years but this is my first time acting. I’d like to do more acting though.”
Haylie will watch her TV debut at home with her parents, brother Bobby, aged six, and other relatives.
The first episode of The Cup is on Thursday night at 9.30pm on BBC2.
