MORE than weight loss was on the menu at a diet club as health bosses carried out The BIG Bolton Health Check.
Dozens of Weight Watchers members took advantage of the 10-minute assessment, which reveals if people are at a high risk of developing heart disease within the next 10 years.
Health trainers set up their stall at the group held at the Brooklyn pub in Green Lane, Great Lever, where the group meets.
Sisters Carol Coop and Elaine Brooks decided to have The BIG Bolton Health Check.
Mrs Brooks, aged 49, from Deane, added: “I was determined we would have this check done. It only took 10 minutes and at the end of the day it could save our lives.”
Weight Watchers is just one of the groups health bosses have been working with to ensure 46,000 people in Bolton over the age of 45 are tested by March next year.
Pubs, betting shops, supermarkets and the One Stop Shop in Bolton Town Hall are also being used as locations for The BIG Bolton Health Check.
People can drop into the One Stop Shop between noon and 5pm every Wednesday until March next year.
Health trainers will also be at the Brooklyn pub between 5.30pm on 8pm next Wednesday. The BIG Bolton Health Check involves a blood pressure test, a cholesterol check and a few simple lifestyle questions.
