THE BIG Bolton Health Check is being rolled out to the borough’s Muslim community.
Health trainers will be visiting mosques across Bolton to ensure as many people as possible can take part in the simple 10-minute assessments.
The Bolton Council of Mosques has organised the sessions, which will begin at the Zakariyya Mosque in Derby Street, Daubhill, at around 1.30pm on Friday for men only, after prayers.
Separate sessions will be held for women. Yaseer Ahmed, development manager for the Bolton Council of Mosques, said: “This is a much-needed project, especially with the Muslim community as people tend to not be very good at having health checks and identifying problems before they become serious.”
More sessions for men will be held at the Mecca Mosque in Grecian Crescent, Great Lever, on August 1, after prayers, at the Noor-ul Islam Mosque in Prospect Street, Bolton, on August 8, after prayers, the Tayibbah Mosques in Draycot Street, Bolton, on August 15, after prayers, and the Sughra Mosque in Granville Street, Farnworth, on August 22, after prayers.
Sessions for women will be held on August 6 at the Zakariyya Mosque, between 10am and noon, at the Nightingale Community Centre, off Rishton Lane in Great Lever, on August 13, between 10am and noon, and at the Bolton Council of Mosques offices in Vicarage Street, Bolton, August 20, from 10am to 3pm.
