THE Cricket World Cup really sprung into life last night - and it was all down to the Irish.
The cricketers did their country proud by holding supposedly superior opponents Zimbabwe to a tie, and the support given to the team by the travelling hordes was equally as impressive.
I didn't realise just how many Irish cricket supporters there were, and the numbers that have joined the Caribbean Carnival have added lots of colour and noise to the party.
Some of the Irish fans looked drunk by the opening over, but they showed great stamina to still be singing and dancing in the aisles with their newly found Calypso pals come the final ball.
I just hope they can sneak a win against either of the 'Great Unpredictables' - Pakistan or the West Indies.
There are plenty of critics sniping at the minnows in this competition, but the Irish deserve to be there based on their fantastic support.
