A dispersal order has been put in place in Bolton town centre this evening after an increase in anti-social behaviour (ASB).

The section 34 dispersal order was implemented at 7pm today (2nd December).

Due to the increase of ASB, the order will allow visitors of the town centre to enjoy their visit without experiencing any disorder.

Neighbourhood officers are deployed to the town centre to engage with visitors and powers afforded to officers under this order will only be utilised where necessary.

A spokesperson for GMP Bolton said: “The order has been authorised in order to avoid large groups gathering and engaging in anti-social behaviour.

“It will remain in place until 11pm tonight.

“Where the dispersal order is in place, a police officer or police community support officer (PCSO) can direct a person, who is in a public place in the locality, to leave the area and not return for the time specified.

“For any parents with children who may be in the town centre tonight, please question what they are up to and ensure they are behaving responsibly.”
