A Bolton charity has launched appeals for food and toy donations ahead of Christmas.

The Harmony Youth Project on Bradshawgate has been operating for more than 25 years, providing support to disadvantaged children in the area through creative arts and musical expression.

It has also expanded its services to help the families of these children, forming a "stronger, more resilient community".

The charity runs a food bank that supports an average of 30 families, including more than 40 children, each month.

As demand increases, the food bank is evolving into a "multi-bank", providing a wider range of services beyond food.

This includes hygiene products, clothing, toys, and household essentials.

However, the food bank has recently reached capacity due to its high volume of activity.

It is anticipated that numbers will decrease in the New Year, allowing more families to sign up for support.

To help replenish its stock, the Harmony Youth Project is organising a food drive.

The charity is appealing for non-perishable food items such as canned goods, packets, pasta, rice, and long-life items.

All donations should be "in date and in good condition".

The food drive aims to help families by providing them with necessary supplies during winter.

The charity is also launching a Christmas toy donation drive.

The aim is to ensure every child in the community receives a gift.

The Harmony Youth Project is asking for donations of new or lightly used toys, games, books, and other items.

All donations should be in "very good condition".

To ensure the gifts can be distributed in time for the holidays, donations should be made before December 13.

The Harmony Youth Project has been a "lifeline" to many families in Bolton.

It is now appealing to the community to help support its mission.

All donations can be made directly to the Harmony office on Bradshawgate.

Alternatively, toy donations can be made via Lidl on Manchester Road.

The deadline for donations is mid-December.
