A coffee shop that roasts its beans locally wants to grab glory at the Bolton News Coffee House Awards.

Provisions Heaton on New Hall Lane also serves deli foods and people travel all the way from Blackpool to try their sandwiches.

Joe Whittaker runs the place with his cousin, Peter Lancaster, and they're set to open a new premise in Bromley Cross next year.

Joe said: "We're really hoping to win, it's our first birthday on December 21, so this would make for a nice present.

(Image: Supplied) "Next door is our restaurant which has won awards so the café is the offshoot of there.

"We import a lot of our produce from Italy but we also champion Bolton businesses.

(Image: Supplied) "Before we took over with the restaurant and cafe, the row of shops we're on was pretty empty, so we like to think we've rejuvenated the area."

The star attraction at the cafe is the deli section, which stems from Joe's parents who had a deli growing up, and even chip in now by making soup for customers.

Joe said: "We bake our own bread and make fresh bread, cold cut sandwiches, and focaccia.

(Image: Supplied) "People have travelled from Blackpool, Bury and Manchester, so we bring people into Bolton.

"Hospitality is in a bad place at the moment, or at least it's perceived to be with rising energy costs. But we feel if you do something well, and if you look after your customers, people still come, so we don't really have any issues."

He added: “Our coffee is roasted in Bolton and we feel the combination of our Conti machine and the beans we use produce a great coffee.

"We send all our staff to the roastery to get barista trained by the actual people who roast the beans to ensure that each coffee we serve is as good as it can be.”

Provisions is open every day of the week.
