A 45-year-old man, who had been banned from driving, has had his vehicle seized after a police operation in Halliwell.
On Thursday, November 28, officers from Bolton North Neighbourhood Team spotted the vehicle, which was stopped and enquiries were made.
The force said officers established that the driver had been disqualified and therefore was driving uninsured.
The man was also wanted on recall to prison.
A spokesperson from Bolton GMP said: “Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team sighted this vehicle in Halliwell.
“The vehicle was stopped and enquiries established that the driver was disqualified and therefore uninsured to drive the vehicle. The driver was also wanted on recall to prison."
He was arrested and was taken back to prison yesterday, with his vehicle seized under the S165a of the Road Traffic Act – which allows police to seize a vehicle if a driver is unable to produce their driving licence for examination, if the driver does not have insurance, or if a driver fails to stop for police.
Those looking to reclaim their vehicle after it has been seized have 14 days to prove satisfactory ownership and to provide legitimate insurance at a police station, or their vehicle will be disposed of, according to GMP.
Vehicles can be scrapped or sold at auction.
When vehicles are sold at auction, drivers may be entitled to claim the proceeds of the sale if they can prove legitimate and satisfactory ownership within 12 months.
