An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead by emergency services.

Police were called to Breightmet just after 1pm and remained on the scene into the afternoon.

Officers say they were called to a concern of welfare report and add that the death is as yet 'unexplained'.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a woman at an address on Stephens Street in Bolton at around 1:05pm on Thursday 28 November 2024.

"Emergency services attended and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained."

There were three police cars and CSI on the scene.

Local people gathered concerned as to what had happened.
