Bolton Highways Depot, Mayor Street, 1949Taken in 1949, it shows members of Bolton’s Highways Committee at the highways department’s main depot on Manor Street admiring the latest addition to its fleet of vehicles, a small road roller.

In the background you can see some of the other lorries and vans which carried out repairs on Bolton’s roads.

The committee members carried out a full inspection of the depot lead by chairman Alderman Bleakley.
