A popular Egerton coffee shop has been nominated for the Bolton News Best Coffee Shop 2024 after opening just a year and a half ago.
The Globe at Egerton was started by then-18-year-old Bethany Shum in Spring 2023 and has quickly proven a success.
It was no surprise that readers voted for the Globe to be shortlisted for Best Coffeeshop of 2024, along with nine others.
Bethany told The Bolton News shortly after opening: “I think it is pretty impressive to be fair to open my own eatery at 18, I’m shocked at the same time because I couldn’t believe that I had done it, but I am enjoying it.
“Hospitality has always been a passion of mine, I enjoy making people happy and meeting so many new friendly faces.
“I’ve grown up in a family with a hospitality background, so I’ve had a lot of support from my parents to help me with this new venture.
“I enjoy what I do and seeing all these friendly faces, so I thought why not start my own and do a bit more and open up my own place instead of working for someone else.
“The local support in Egerton has been fantastic."
Located on 273 Blackburn Road, the coffeeshop offers all day breakfasts, lunches and specials on the menu.

Bethany said: “But yes, everyone has been loving the food and it is all quite Instagrammable so yes, it’s been really good so far.
“The Globe name is an Iconic name for the area, being a pub from the area where everyone visited.
“We try to create a warm and cosy atmosphere for all our customers to feel welcome and relaxed whether they come with friends or alone.”
The Globe at Egerton is open Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 3pm.
