The Bolton Royal Naval Association was invited by the mayor to the town hall this week.
Cllr Andy Morgan extended the invitation to allow for a tour of the historic building, after he had a catch up with the group.
The association meets on the first Saturday of every month and are one of the biggest branches of their kind in the UK.

It comprises naval servicemen in the area, both current and former.
Cllr Morgan, a veteran himself, said: "It was a pleasure to welcome them to the Mayor’s Parlour and a fantastic opportunity to honour their service and celebrate their contributions to our community.
"Their legacy should inspire us all."
The group's welfare officer, Michael Grice, said: "As welfare officer and standard bearer for The Royal Naval Association Bolton, we thank you for your continued support of the Armed Forces.
"We all enjoyed your hospitality. Thank you."
