White Ribbon Day was marked in Bolton with a commitment to ensure women and girls feel safe in the town.
The annual day is part of a campaign to end violence against women and girls.
In Bolton the day, on November 25 — which launches 16 days of activism — was marked with a commitment to encourage men and boys to change harmful attitudes and behaviours to prevent gender-based violence.
With the theme of ‘It starts with men’, the annual campaign urges men to hold themselves accountable to women and to each other, in order to create positive behaviour change to transform harmful cultures.

Everybody is encouraged to do their part every day so that women and girls everywhere can live free from the fear of violence.
A spokesman for Bolton Council said: "Violence against women and girls is not only a women’s issue and people across Bolton should be accountable to themselves and others by being an ally.
"Gender equality is key to making this culture change happen; and it is only achievable if men and boys understand and assume their responsibility as allies.
"It involves taking responsibility for what you can change when you see or hear things that are not right.
"While the council recognises that not all men are violent, the reality is that most violence against women is committed by men, whether that is a partner, ex-partner, colleague or stranger."
During the next two weeks, the council is working in collaboration with partners to deliver a comprehensive programme of activity to educate and promote change.
Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Cllr Rabiya Jiva, said:“1.4 million women experienced domestic abuse in 2023 and I want to help to reduce that figure.
“Women and girls should feel safe in our town and I am committed to making a stand against the perpetrators who cause worry and fear.
“Working in partnership with other agencies in Bolton is crucial and our established relationships stand us in good stead to make some noticeable improvements.”
