A man was taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries after a crash in which a car overturned.
Emergency services were called to Chorley Old Road, close to its junction with Devonshire Road in Heaton, just before 8pm.
Police taped off the scene as firefighters one person from the vehicle.
The road remained closed until after 11pm as an investigation into the cause of the crash, which involved one car, took place.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just before 7.55pm on Monday (November 25) two fire engines from Bolton North and Farnworth fire stations plus the enhanced rescue unit from Leigh attended a crash involving one car which had overturned on Chorley Old Road, Bolton.
“Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to rescue one person from the car before handing them to the care of North West Ambulance Service. Crews were in attendance for around 15 minutes.”
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "A man received treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital for suspected serious injuries."
Although the cause of the crash is unknown and still subject to investigation, The Bolton News has been told of concerns about the Devonshire Road junction with Chorley Old Road.
Ward councillor and leader of the Conservatives, Martyn Cox said: "Residents have raised concerns about sight lines when coming from Devonshire Road.
"However, I do not know what caused this crash, but those concerns have been raised about the junction."
Earlier this month residents called for action to improve Chorley Old Road which has been the scene of a number of crashes.
