A Bolton-based social enterprise has won a prestigious business award.

Entrepreneurs Unlocked was named the winner of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in the Purpose Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Sponsored by Allica Bank, this award highlights their accomplishments and the impact they have had on their industry and community.

The awards, now in their 12th year, highlight individuals and businesses contributing to innovation, job creation, and the future of the UK economy.

The Purpose Entrepreneur of the Year category aims to highlight entrepreneurs who prioritise making a positive impact on society or the environment through business.

Entrepreneurs Unlocked was acknowledged for its efforts to support people in prison, on probation, and in the community.

The social enterprise provides tailored programmes, expert advice, and ongoing support to help people explore new pathways to self-employment.

David Morgan, founder of Entrepreneurs Unlocked, said: "I am absolutely delighted and deeply honoured to receive the Great British Entrepreneur Award in the Purpose Entrepreneur of the Year category.

"This recognition is a testament to the resilience, creativity, and determination of those we work with—individuals in prison, on probation, and in the community—who are striving to turn their lives around through entrepreneurship.

"I am passionate about creating pathways to self-employment that empower people to unlock their potential and contribute positively to society.

"This award is not just for me but is for everyone who believes in second chances and the power of the entrepreneurial spirit to drive meaningful change."

Francesca James, founder of the Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards, said: "Every year, I’m in awe of the entrepreneurs who come through our programme, and this year is no different.

"The Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards continues to receive thousands of applications annually, reflecting the incredible strength of entrepreneurship across the UK.

"This year’s winners collectively generate over £3 billion in turnover and employ over 20,000 people.

"These extraordinary individuals are not only transforming industries but also uplifting communities and inspiring the next generation of business leaders."

The awards ceremony, held on November 18 at London's Grosvenor House, brought together industry leaders, innovators, and changemakers to celebrate the winners' achievements.
