Police taped off part of a residential area this morning as they investigated an attack.
Officers were called to Halliwell just before midday to what they described as a disturbance on Chelburn Place.
A woman in her 30s was arrested and is currently being questioned by police.
A man was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police taped off the crossroad junction of Oxford Grove and Waldeck Street, near to where the police said the disturbance took place.
It remained taped off into the afternoon, with police within cordon.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 11.50am this morning (Monday 18 November 2024), we were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Chelburn Place, Bolton.
"A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not described as life-changing or life-threatening, he remains there for treatment.
"A woman in her 30s has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and remains in police custody for questioning.
"Enquiries are ongoing.
"We are appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed this incident, or may have dashcam/CCTV footage, is asked to contact Bolton CID on 101 quoting log number 1196 of 18/11/2024.
"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Neighbours told The Bolton News they heard a commotion in the area.
One told The Bolton News said: "I heard shouting and sound, exactly what I don't know."
Another said: "I heard loud voices and came to the window."
One neighbour said: "It doesn't look like you are safe anywhere."
A car parked on Oxford Grove inside the cordon was damaged and had its front and side windows smashed. It is not clear if this is related to the incident.
