A youth organisation that works hard to help youngsters “build brighter futures” had received a generous donation from one of Bolton’s biggest companies.

Be The Change, based in Daubhill, was one of two organisations to benefit along with anti-domestic violence charity Fortalice from electricals firm AO’s fundraising efforts.

More than £10,000 was raised by AO employees, headquartered at Middlebrook, of which £4,909.86 went to Be The Change to help them continue their vital work.

Be The Change founder and CEO Daniel Sukula said: “We are incredibly grateful for this generous contribution from AO and their employees.”

He added: “This donation will play a crucial role in helping us continue our work, steering young people away from crime and antisocial behaviour, and providing them with the tools and support they need to thrive.

“With this funding, we can create a safe, welcoming space for young people to grow, develop, and build brighter futures.”

The funds were raised through a series of efforts undertaken by AO employees, who proved hugely dedicated to supporting causes like Be The Change and Fortalice.

Their dedication and the causes they support were celebrated at an AO Stars Award ceremony.

Mr Sukula attended the AO Stars Award ceremony alongside Be The Change young leader Nathan to accept the funds.

They will support the group’s work with young people including through youth club sessions, sports activities, and mentorship.

Some of the funds will also help to renovate Be The Change’s new facility on Back Deane Church Lane West, Daubhill.

The plan for the new youth centre was approved earlier this year and will feature a music studio, dance room, a meeting space, computer room, kitchens and much more.

Mr Sukula says he hopes this will allow them to expand their services and provide even more support to the community.

He hopes that the donation from AO will help them go on to expand their programmes and make a lasting impact to the lives of yet more young people across Bolton.
