A scheme has been put forward to turn a flat above a shop along a main road into accommodation for people needing “care or support.”

The plan will see the flat on Deane Road into supported living accommodation.

The building is part of a three-storey terrace with the ground floor being used by a business premises.

A design and access statement said: “The site is in a well-connected, residential area with good access to local amenities and transport links, making it a potentially attractive location for the proposal.

“The purpose of the proposal is to provide a more suitable environment for individuals requiring care and support, such as vulnerable adults, the elderly, or those with physical or mental health challenges.

“This proposal changes of use will likely create jobs for local carers, support workers, and healthcare professionals.”

The plans were entered to Bolton Council on Wednesday October 30.

The application says that no outside alterations or extensions have been proposed to the building and that it will not have any detrimental impact on the street scene.

It said that the property has three bedrooms, which are all sized in line with national standards and that all three have windows, providing suitable ventilation.

The statement said: “Although the property may not have extensive private on-site amenities such as gardens or parking, it is a prime location, private access and flexible interior space offer important benefits for supported living
