The Daily Dash fundraising event is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Launched by Jackie and Mark Smith, the December Daily Dash was created as a tribute to Sue Ryder nurses who cared for Mrs Smith’s father in his final days.
Now, the initiative has grown from a small group of 13 to over 2,000 participants, having raised more than £600,000 to support end-of-life and grief support services.
The challenge is simple: participants are asked to walk, jog, or run 1k, 3k, or 5k every day this December.
The couple hopes even more people will join the challenge this year, to mark the special anniversary and improve their fitness during the festive period.
Mrs Smith said: "We would love if even more could join us and be part of our special tenth anniversary year, all the while improving their fitness and wellbeing at a time of year associated with indulgence and less healthy habits."
Whether done outdoors or on a treadmill, alone or with company, each participant becomes part of a community of 'Dashers' committed to helping Sue Ryder.
The funds raised provide bereavement support and palliative care, 'ensuring no one faces death or grief alone this Christmas.'
