Plans for a new restaurant and wedding venue in one of the most iconic buildings in the north of England have been approved.

Royal Nawaab has confirmed that its planning application to Stockport Metropolitan Council to create the venue at the town’s iconic Pyramid has been passed at a meeting last night.

The team says it has now set its sights on creating its ‘biggest and most luxurious destination to date’ at the site.

The pyramid was completed in 1992 and was occupied by the co-op but later lay empty for years.

Royal Nawaab, Manchester will open in the first quarter of 2025 and will include a restaurant with a capacity to accommodate 350 diners on the ground floor. 

In addition, there will be three premium banqueting facilities, ranging from the smallest, with a maximum capacity of 150 covers; a medium sized banqueting suite with a maximum capacity of 300 covers to the largest with a maximum capacity of 700 covers.

Plans for the luxuirous development have been passed.Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, Cllr Colin Macalister, said:  "We’re thrilled to see the iconic Stockport Pyramid brought back to life with the fantastic Royal Nawaab joining our community!
