The Mayor of Bolton visited one of Bolton's hidden gems to enjoy a three course meal, a bit of Christmas shopping and a catch-up with fellow veterans.

Cllr Andy Morgan was invited to a veterans lunch at Heaton Fold Garden Centre recently.

The centre is already for Christmas.

He said: "The garden centre really is a hidden gem and offers quality produce, whether that be plants, food or that special gift from the shop and an amazing cafe offering great food."

And the centre hosts a regular - and hugely popular - artisan market which will return on November 24 and December 15

Along with live entertainment, there’s unique, one-of-a-kind gifts for all, including handmade jewellery and clothing, homemade relishes and chutneys, delicious baking, and so much more.

Hot and cold food and drink will also be on offer.

Cllr Morgan said: "The nursery is a social enterprise that provides work opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, autism, or additional needs.

"The centre is designed as a supportive, therapeutic environment where individuals can gain practical skills in horticulture, retail, and customer service.

"By participating in the day-to-day running of the garden centre and nursery, they build confidence, social skills, and work experience, helping to foster independence and improve overall well-being."

Cllr Hilary Fairclough, who attended a veterans armistice lunch this week, added: "Heaton Fold is a fabulous garden centre part of the Bolton family and it’s a real treat to look around the beautifully set out grounds with all the seasonal plants , shrubs a wreaths, and the shop is just stunning with lots of Christmas items plus some quality jams , cheeses and cakes all with that luxury twist

"So if you fancy a trip out for lunch or just a browse of the garden centre you couldn’t go to a nicer place."
