A town centre pub is set to reopen this month after an explosion forced it to close for four months.

The Greyhound on Deansgate was hit by the incident on July 21 when its entire front window was blown out onto the pavement in the early hours.

Six fire engines tackling the blaze.

Now, the pub has revealed to The Bolton News that it "will be open within the next couple of weeks" after having been closed for almost four months.

The staff member did not wish to give any further details at this stage.

All new signage, windows and a door can be seen on the front of the Greyhound as well.

In a Facebook statement at the time, the pub described its "devastation" about the incident but thanked all of those who have supported them.

Members of the public were not allowed to enter the area immediately around the pub initially, but were still able to walk around the scene through backstreets and across a patch of grass.

Cadent engineers were seen doing gas testing in the ground, while fire investigators were seen entering the Greyhound.

As well as the explosion knocking out the window frame, the ensuing fire caused fire and smoke damage to the pub's interior.

The road remained closed for a few days afterwards as Cadent engineers conducted works.
